In general you can expect the roof to last 40-60 years, compared to 10-15 years for asphalt shingles.

Are steel roofs noisier in rain, and do they decrease cell phone reception in the house?

There's slight increase in noise if you do not have an attic. There is no reduction in cell phone reception as cell phone towers are not generally located above your house and the signal travels through the walls, not through the roof.

Would a steel roof be too heavy for my house?

Steel roofs are actually lighter than shingles, so they are always a better option if you consider the weight.

Can I walk on steel roof?

Steel has smooth surface, so walking on it is more dangerous than on shingles. Also dirt and sand from your shoes can scratch the paint surface. On lower slopes walking is possible, but still not advised.
